While patriarchy is held to be about power over others, while matriarchy is held to be about power from within, we honor the lives and existence of the men in our lives and all the ways they have to fight and have fought and resisted the patriarchal structures that limit and harm them, all of us. Despite these toxic systems that too often pull them away from the right to be soft, to show emotion and be nurturing, we have seen and felt the love that our grandfathers, fathers, uncles, godfathers and brothers have blanketed our paths with. May they cry and soften with vulnerability and without shame, nurture with conviction, and crumble those walls of harm and limitation. We love you, we stand with you and we honor you.
